In the communityOur work originates in the hearts of St. Vincent de Paul employees and volunteers. Reaching people where they are requires patience and creativity as well as operational and logistical expertise.
Working with healthcare, schools, churches, food pantries and other non-profits, St. Vincent de Paul – Twin Cities continuously responds to daily and emergent community needs. Here are just a few ways we serve: Free Stores
The brick & mortar SVdP free store in Faribault, and pop-up versions at inner-city parishes in Minneapolis & St. Paul, give away food, clothing, housewares and personal care products. Due to pandemic safety protocols, pop up free stores in the Twin Cities are suspended until further notice. Review our calendar of events for updates. Winter coat giveaways
Each autumn St. Vincent de Paul holds pop-up coat stores where new and almost-new coats are provided to individuals and families in neighborhoods we serve. Last year, SVdP gave away nearly 8,000 men’s, woman’s and children’s jackets and outerwear. Minneapolis Police Department
The MPD Community Engagement Team (CET) visits schools, parks, drop-in centers and other locations to serve lunch, hand out fruit and snacks and serve disadvantaged neighborhoods across the city.
